Information Reports

In Room 9 we are learning to write information reports.  We are learning how to structure these correctly.  We need to remember to include:

• an introduction which is a general statement about the topic
• a body which describes what we are writing about
• a conclusion which is a summary and a personal comment.

Here are some of the reports we have written:

Dogs

First what is a dog?

A dog is a furry animal for a pet or a working animal. Dogs are mans best friend. They have different breeds. Dogs play with you

Try’s to jump on you and try’s to rip up your clothes.

People choose different breeds of dogs because of the way they live., what they do and how friendly they are.

Some dogs have a job. Some are police dogs and they track down criminals and find lost and naughty people.

In the olden days people used Ridgebacks for fighting lions.

Also in the olden days American Bulldogs were used in wars.

Golden Retrievers and Labradors are used as Guide Dogs to guide blind people.

Golden Retrievers are used for Hunting, when a person shoots a duck the dog retrieves it by bringing it back.

When dogs are in a car they put their heads out the window.

Dogs love going for walks and runs.

Fox Terriers

Fox terriers are very intelligent.  They are mostly brown and white.  Fox terriers live in insulated beds.  My dogs like to listen to the radio in the shed so they don’t get lonely or sad.  They are very good pets and their sense of smell is very good. 

They are powerful, fast, intelligent little animals and they are very good at catching rabbits because of their sense of smell and speed.  There are lots of different breeds like Dalmation, British Bull Dogs, Poodle and Fox Terrier. 

Be nice take them for a walk, throw them a stick.

Dogs are allowed to do most things like run in the park and dig up mum's flower beds, but they're trying to be your friends.  The pups are trying to snuggle between you to keep warm.

You can treat your dog well with insulation in the dog's house or give your dog a bed inside its house and let the pups inside.

This is what you give your dog:  a dog house, water bowl, food bowl, soft toys and rubber toys for the pups and litter box.

You can train your dog to do special tricks like: catch a ball, roll over, jump in the air and pounce on a ball.

Police dogs sniff out criminals that have escaped from a prison. Airport security dogs sniff out bags that might have drugs in them. Guide dogs help blind people cross the road.

DOGS

A dog can be man’s best friend. They also can be your pet or work with you. The dogs bite your clothes because it’s nice and chewy. If you throw a stick really far it will run as fast as the wind and come back with it. When your dog’s whine or barks sometimes it just wants to lick you. When the dog plays with you it is fun and when they poke their tongue out it means they are waiting for you to come and play. Farm dogs round up sheep and cows because that is what they are trained to do. Police dogs are trained to catch criminals. Family dogs sometimes sleep in a kennel outside and some sleep inside, even on our bed.

Some dogs are smelly and so are their beds if you don’t clean them. Their owners feed them dog biscuits, and meat but they love to chew on bones. They play with cats and slippers. Guard dogs help people if they are in danger. We have a little baby guard dog and he guards me. My dog is only a baby and tries to eat chicken food. I think puppies are cute and dogs are really intelligent.

They can run around with the owner.  A police dog chases naughty people. A dog digs holes around places and can jump around.  It can help you get the sheep in.  A dog can hide in long grass.  A dog can swim in the sea.  It digs holes in the sand.  It digs deep in the sand.  A guide dog helps blind people.

Dogs are man’s best friend.  They jump and lick.

There are all kinds of breeds, like hunting dogs or rescue dogs.  There are lots more.

Dogs have to have clean water. 

Dogs do exercise, running, walking and jumping.

There are three ways to get puppies.  One, get born from a girl mother, two, get it from the vet and three, find them on the side of the road.

I love dogs because they are intelligent.

Hunting dogs are very useful for shooting and hunting down pigs, deer, goats and sheep.

Sheep dogs help farmers to round up sheep.

Dogs are a lot of work but they give you hours and hours of fun.

A dog is man’s best friend. Men are tough and they make games like wrestling fun because they are strong. Men can also throw a stick further.

Games that dogs play with men

Dogs play many different games with men such as tug of war, fetch, racing on a long lead and sniff out the biscuits. These games can be fun.

How to play these games

Every game with you and your dog needs a bit of training. You also need to know how to play them. And this is how you play them. Fetch is pretty easy. All you have to do is throw a ball or a stick. The dog has to go and grab the ball or stick. Then they have to come back to you and drop it at your feet. Tug of war is pretty easy to. All you have to do is you and the dog pull in different directions. Another fun game is when you sit on a wheelie chair hold on to the toy and the dog pulls you around.

Pets

Dog are pets as well. Dogs like to play with you. You have to give them clean water and feed them night and day.

Working dogs

There are lots of working dogs like hunter, guard and guide dogs.

It’s amazing how intelligent dogs are.

Dogs

Dogs are furry, cute and cuddly!  Some dogs are big and some dogs are small.  They live in kennels and sleep in kennels too. Some are micro-chipped.  There are all sorts of breeds.  Dogs eat dog biscuits and meat.  Dogs say “Woof, Woof”.  Dogs are soft and they chew on light bones.  Dogs play in the dirt and round up sheep.  They play with squeaky toys, shoes and slippers. 

I like dogs because they are very intelligent and they are good at doing tricks.

Dogs are nice and they are man’s best friend.  Dogs usually sleep in the laundry, the shed, or inside.  Dogs like to sleep in warm places such as: by the fire, on a warm blanket, or in a bed. Dogs to do things like play fetch, run around with you, and jumping.  Dogs LOVE to eat, dogs eat chicken, beef, sheep, and dog biscuits. Dogs are cute, cuddly, furry, and playful.  A lot of people have dogs.  People take dogs for walks at the park.  Dogs need a walk once a day.  Dogs are very fast runners, and are good swimmers.  I like dogs!

RUGBY

Rugby is for boys and girls.  It is very popular.  A lot of children play rugby because it is so fun!  At rugby there is a BIG field with a lot of grass. Did you know that adults play rugby?  There are a lot of types of rugby, there is: ripper rugby, tackle rugby, and rugby league, but I don’t know the other types of rugby. Rugby helps people get fit and strong. Every week after a game of rugby, there is a player of the day. A lot of children play rugby!

Man’s best friend.  A dog can be a man’s best friend.

Man’s best friend - If your dog likes you it will play with you and follow you. The dog will lick you. It will sleep on your clothes because it knows that is the smell of you. Your dog will cry when you leave them.

Pets - If you have a dog you would feed it red meat, bones, biscuits and CLEAN WATER! You should always train your dog to not bite or scratch. All dogs need exercise, like taking them for runs and walks. If you teach dogs tricks, it’s really fun!

How can you tell dogs are happy?

You can tell a dog is happy by wagging its tail. If you pat a dog it will poke its tongue out.

Are dogs intelligent?

I think dogs are intelligent because they can do jobs just like humans. They can have these kinds of jobs:

Police dog

Rescue dog

Drug dog

Food dog

Fighting dog

Guard dog

Conclusion

I think dogs are intelligent because they can do all these jobs.

Tennis

Introduction

Tennis is a fun sport for boys and girls.

Do you have to train hard to be a good tennis player?

Yes! You do have to train hard because that’s how you get to be a professional at tennis.

What kind of parts does a racquet have?

A tennis racquet has three parts. One of them is the head of the racquet. Another one on the racquet is the neck, the straight bit on the racquet. The last one is the string. Tennis racquets also come in different colours and sizes.

Things to do to become a great tennis player!!

You will need a really experienced coach to train you. Another thing you need is a place to train. The last thing you need is a tennis racquet and tennis balls.

Things you need to play a game of tennis.

You will need to be able to do a forhand and backhand hit and also a serve. You will need to be fit and strong and be able to move quickly in different directions.

A great tennis player is Maria Sharapova.

Maria Sharapova is a great tennis player.  Her rank is 3^rd place in the whole world! Maria is sponsored by Nike. She is 26 years old!
